READ THE APRIL ISSUE

History

ROOM is the Journal of the Aerospace International Research Centre (AIRC), based in Vienna. It is aimed at the specialist and those interested in exploring the wider issues of aerospace matters. Contributors are leading specialists in their field from around the world, be it Aeronautic, Astronautic, Aerospace Matters, Military Affairs, EcologicalIssues; International Relations; or simple ways in which space impacts on everyday life.

ROOM encompasses the concept of the endless room there is in outer space; and the room there is on Earth for debating key issues. The Cosmos is not simply somewhere for star-gazing; it is a continuation and vital element of life on Earth. Problems in Space are indivisible from problems on Earth. Debate and discussion – and disagreement – will be key to ROOM. The Journal will also reflect dialogue conducted on the AIRC website.

The Journal covers four principle areas:
 • Peaceful uses of Outer Space
 • The Military Aspect of Space and Global Affairs
 • Space Ecology
• The Impact of Space on everyday life

Peaceful uses of Outer Space:
A continuing discussion of the successes and problems encountered by peaceful space exploration, with particular focus on scientific and technological issues. The focus will be on a dialogue between specialists in space technologies and specialists in earth-based technologies: how can these two areas interact better so the benefits discovered in one sphere can be employed in the other? And in which areas are solutions being sought
which may be helped by the bringing together of specialists from different areas who are not yet engaging with each other? There will also be a news section covering matters such as space lau
